Altar servers at the Fresno Latin Mass
The Fresno Latin Mass would be virtually impossible without the help of our altar servers. This dedicated group of boys and young men has worked hard to learn Latin prayers and master the duties they must perform to assist the priest.
Whether the priest is celebrating a relatively simple Low Mass or an elaborate High Mass with incense and Gregorian chant, the altar servers play an integral part in the liturgy. Their job demands discipline and constant attention to detail. But it also provides a unique opportunity to get to know some wonderful priests and accompany them in their climb up Mount Calvary every Sunday.
To ensure that we will always have a supply of well-trained boys and men to serve Mass, the Fresno Traditional Mass Society recently established the St. Gregory the Wonder Worker Altar Academy. The Academy meets every six to eight weeks to learn more about the Mass, practice altar serving techniques, and have some fun.
